DIXIE DEAN
The greatest player to grace pitch
Pretty much every Evertonian knows the great mans legendary exploits and 60 goal season.
But less well known are his off season days playing amongst others sports, baseball.
Dixie Dean’s first movement into the world of baseball came when playing for Blundellsands at Bridge Road.
The local press then reported on 8 June 1936 that Dixie Dean made his Liverpool Caledonians debut. Dean proved to have quite a talent for the sport and it was also reported that he represented England at White City Stadium vs an All-American team in 1936.
For this design we have gone down the route of creating a retro baseball design. Using archived research and images, we crafted a hand drawn illustration as the main centrepiece showing dixie about to take swing at a pitch…and there came the strap line we have gone with on the items…THE GREATEST PLAYER TO GRACE A PITCH.”
